Did you know that you can alleviate pain using your mind? There is a simple method that can be used to relieve all types of discomfort.
Every organ and gland in our body has intelligence, and each cell of every organ and gland is like a mini “antenna” that picks up messages from the brain. The cells receive and process information and act in accordance with that information.
Our feelings, which are produced by our thoughts (which are influenced by images, sounds, and other environmental stimuli) profoundly affect our physiology.
Here are a few examples that illustrate this dynamics:
- When we think about our favorite food, a change in the activity of the salivary glands takes place.
- Upon hearing horrible news, our stomach begins to tighten.
- When in a threatening situation, adrenaline is released.
How to alleviate pain using your mind
To use your mind to alleviate discomfort, simply say to the aching body part,”Drop the pain.” As you are giving the command, use visualization and intention to create a feeling/emotion that will create an environment in and around the affected body part that will allow it to become relaxed and calm.
For instance, if you are suffering from joint pain, tell you joints to “drop the pain;” if you are heaving a headache, tell your head to “drop the pain;” if you are experiencing discomfort in your kidneys, tell your kidneys to “drop the pain.” Visualize and feel your head, joints, or kidneys becoming relaxed and pain-free. Keep doing it until the desired result is achieved.
Be mindful, however, that although unpleasant, pain is necessary. Pain is your ally, not enemy; it is a tool the body uses to point your attention to an internal imbalance so that you can take the necessary steps to address it.
After having successfully applied this method and relieving yourself of pain, it is important that you determine the source of the discomfort. Always listen to your body and pay attention to what it is trying to communicate to you.
