Proper circulation is vital for our health. It is through blood that the cells and tissues in all parts of the body are cleansed, oxygenated, and nourished. When the circulatory system begins to malfunction, the most crucial functions of the body are affected; nutrients can no longer be properly delivered and waste byproducts eliminated.
Causes of poor circulation
Our dietary choices are the main factor that affects circulation. Foods that contain gluten (which is really glue) found in pastas, breads and cereals; and processed foods cause the blood to get thick which inhibits circulation. Cholesterol from animal products injures the lining of the blood vessels which results in a plaque that obstructs blood flow.
Siting down for prolonged periods of time has a great negative effect on proper blood flow. Our body was not designed to not move for several consecutive hours. Lack of sleep also plays a role in throwing circulation out of balance.
- Metaphysical causes
The circulatory system or cardiovascular system is associated with the heart chakra. The heart chakra corresponds to compassion, acceptance, forgiveness, and unconditional love. If we struggle in any of those areas of life, circulation problems are likely to arise.
Balancing the bloodflow
The first step to normalizing circulation is to eliminate all the factors that cause this situation to be. All of the foods listed above are to be completely eliminated or greatly reduced from our diet. They should be replaced with whole, unprocessed fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. Those are alkaline foods that will melt out the pus in the blood and remove other pollutants, causing the blood to regain its original consistency.
Begin consuming herbs such as cayenne, cinnamon, and ginkgo biloba. They will greatly assist in regulating circulation. Those herbs can be made as tea or taken in capsules. I don’t recommend herbal extracts as they are not as potent and effective as dried herbs.
If your job involves sitting down for hours straight, request a standing desk if possible. If that option isn’t available, make sure to get up and walk for a few minutes. If smokers are entitled to frequent smoking breaks, you should be entitled to frequent walking breaks. If you work from home, simply purchase a standing desk or build one yourself.
Last but not least, release all the grudge that you carry in your heart and forgive. Holding a grudge against another person is one of the worst things we can do to ourselves. It is like a slow suicide. If you have been struggling with accepting something in your life, now is the time to do it. Acceptance of your life situation, whatever it may be, will be greatly healing. By accepting a situation you simply stop fighting it. You make peace with it. If it is something that is in your power to change, you go on to change it, you simply no longer resist it.
